From the feminist manifesto to the #MeToo movement, to the Women\u2019s March, our \u00ab<strong>girl<\/strong> gang\u00bb and \u00ab<strong>girl<\/strong> <strong>tribe<\/strong>,\u00bb we found our sense of <strong>direction<\/strong> relating to gender equality through these revolutions. If a man cannot ask for directions to the closest gas station, how are they supposed to ask directions about how to be <strong>men<\/strong>? As a gender and youth activist with several experiences in the grassroots movements, I have spent a great deal of my time talking and re-thinking my role as a woman with and from other <strong>women<\/strong>. This allows me to see the way that <strong>women<\/strong> view intersectional gender equality movement in a way that goes deeper beyond criticizing the policies and politics and to seek a greater meaning from ourselves and analyzing our own emotions. I want to make it clear that talking about masculinity is not a distraction from the <strong>problems<\/strong> of <strong>women<\/strong>&#8211; rather, it is the most effective way to properly address them.<\/p>\n<p>Womxn succumb to the larger patriarchal discourse, in <strong>fact<\/strong> if a womxn questions this systemic oppression, she is deemed as immoral, modern and in <strong>fact<\/strong> she is not worthy of being categorized as \u00aban ideal woman\u00bb. Yet, womxn themselves, leave aside the <strong>men<\/strong>, partake in silently following the age-old restrictions and perpetuate it generation after generation. Womxn succumb to the larger patriarchal discourse, in <strong>fact<\/strong> if a womxn questions this systemic oppression, she is deemed as immoral, modern and in <strong>fact<\/strong> she is not worthy of being categorized as \u00aban ideal womxn\u00bb. The <strong>take<\/strong> of Manusmriti on menstruation, without doubt, emanates from patriarchal thoughts.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"pullquote align-left\"><p>Many <strong>people<\/strong> think of <strong>infertility<\/strong> as a <strong>women<\/strong>\u2019s issue, when in <strong>fact<\/strong>, 20-30% of <strong>infertility<\/strong> can be due to <strong>male<\/strong>-factor, in other words, the man.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Men might not want to worry or pursue treatment until after a few <strong>months<\/strong> of Trying, but <strong>women<\/strong> dealing with <strong>infertility<\/strong> might want to seek out treatment ASAP because they\u2019re worried their egg quality might be deteriorating the longer they wait. \u00abIt feels like I\u2019ve let everyone down and I feel like an outsider from the rest of the world.\u00bb The general expectation on <strong>men<\/strong> in society, he says, is that sperm are readily available and a man should just be able to produce them whenever.
